INTRODUCTION to
THE ORIGIN OF SPEECHES: From the Language of Eden to Our Babble After Babel by Isaac Mozeson and Joshua Ben (to be published in the U.K. around January 2005, details forthcoming at www.homestead.com/edenics)

Welcome to the beginning of the end of our era of Bible-less atheism. Our grandchildren will not know of a world where educated men proudly claimed chimpanzees as their ancestors. By 2050 students will chuckle in their monitors at the thought of professors of linguistics who used to teach that words evolved over millions of years of monkey grooming, then caveman gesturing and grunting. Back in the Early Communication Age, no one on earth even knew why EARTH was the reverse of terra (Latin earth), or that EARTH was ultimately from AReTZ in Edenic (Proto-Semitic as best seen in Biblical Hebrew).

But couldn't they just figure out that only homo sapiens was created sapient (thinking), or that the same Creator who bent light into the colors of the spectrum, or that programmed the animals to adapt to many different environments, diversified the one language of Eden at the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11). Adam was to use the divine gift of Edenic language to name animals (see Genesis 2:19, 20 and the chapter on animal names). And then there are specific verses referring to the Creator of words (Isaiah 57:19) and to the return of our planet's pristine language, with its promise of a global unity of belief (Zephaniah 3:9). This book is at least a beginning of the realization of this End Time vision, by introducing the Science of Edenics that shall prove that all words (and peoples) are related.

Sadly, few "intellectuals" have ever opened a Bible or entertained the notion that the Bible was anything but an alphabet soup of writers who patched together invented myths. Western scholars were emotionally and intellectually incapable of testing the linguistic thesis of Genesis. The Semitically-challenged Eurocentrists who researched language history were like bugs in the rug. They were never able to get off the floor with enough perspective height to notice the marvelous patterns of an oriental rug. This book begins to trace these patterns.

The worshipers of doubt and despair of the last few centuries thought it was the people of faith who were the arrogant ones for having too many answers. They liked having dictionaries with "origin unknown" words (like LAD, even though YeLeD is a boy in the Bible), since human vocabulary was a man-made, chaotic mess -- simian spawn. This book will begin to rescue the study of words from the ego-duelers in the Humanities, and put it in the reasoned hands of scientists.

One's antipathy to any or all organized religions, or systems of objective morality, has nothing to do with an intelligent mind's failure to engage the text of Genesis on crucial subjects like the existence of life, humankind and language. At least an agnostic has as much sense as an Amazonian who finds a Coke bottle in the jungle, inspects it, and concludes that this was manufactured by a higher intelligence. Give this book and the Edenic data some time, and you too may find language to be an exquisitely fashioned vessel.

This book is merely the newly cleared tip of an iceberg. But a huge one that could sink the titanic ship of fools who consider Biblical Hebrew to be a branch of West Semitic that accidentally evolved long after Sumerian. Accidentally created men, you who think you think because of the language you created, your decades are numbered.

If some religious "nuts" want to pander to Creationist "myths," wouldn't they do better with Noah's Ark and the Deluge? After all, there have been many books and films about that - most of them inconclusive. Undersea excavations in The Black Sea do seem to be getting a bit closer to proving the Deluge. But for its impact on history, and for proof of our Creation by a God vastly interested in how we think -- nothing is more important that proving The Tower of Babel scenario.

This book isn't satisfied with proving that there was an original planetary language (Edenic). Edenic was diversified by the Creator just as it was engineered by an Eternal force guiding human history and destiny. The spectacular variety of butterflies seems to say that species diversified, mutated and adapted on their own. An atheist can argue that the ability to do this was "natural," not divine.

Is the human species more or less fit for survival with our diverse languages? How natural, accidental was this linguistic breakup? If a "Creator of speech" (Isaiah 57:19) did not purposefully scramble it (Genesis 11), then why project toward an ultimate time when our disunited nations finally arrive back to a state of knowing a linguistic and deistic Oneness (Zephaniah 3:9)? This book addresses such questions, largely with data that you can confirm.

This book's title promises to answer Charles Darwin's The Origin of Species. Darwin's seminal 1859 book is celebrated as crediting unguided natural forces to the proliferation of new sub-species. Far worse than a Creator as Prime Clockmaker who upped and left, after Darwin some intelligent people thought that the right explosion among the right components could create a clock. Mutation and diversity must be an accident, went the reasoning. It was not considered that a Creator might be behind the ability of the first butterfly to adapt to many thousands of environments or of an Edenic word to develop into many thousands of variations in music and meaning.

Philosophical deicide was a major reason why Darwin's since- corrected book was so celebrated. This book will take on some large issues like why the Proto-Earth tongue was diversified, how Abram the Chaldean could have become a Hebrew-speaker, why the Torah letters did not evolve from hieroglyphs, and how the shapes of this Aleph-Bet point to the Creator of the human mouth. Most of this book, however, will be about etymology. Etymology is from the Greek etmos, truth. Edenics claims that Greek truth resulted from a slightly scrambled Edenic EMeT, Aleph-Mem-Tahf, truth. Etmos is a meaningless sound arbitrarily used to fill a semantic need. With only access to Hellenic truth, it is no wonder that bright people feel that words are meaningless accidents. Edenics offers several new ways to discover that EMeT is loaded with unique meaning.

Humanities academics thrive on jingoism, invented terms that prove how much they are ingenious, singularly privy to new knowledge, and suitable for tenure. Only a few, easy and common linguistics terms are used in this book. The only unavoidable, newly coined terms here are Edenic and Edenics.

Edenic is the original, universal Earth language spoken at Eden, which got a Big Bang of diversification in the ongoing process of de-evolution begun at the Tower of Babel. As Proto-Semitic, Edenic is different from later Hebrew. There are important roots of Edenic that are preserved in other Semitic languages. Many of these roots or words are not in the Hebrew Bible. Citations from the Bible offer the most accessible literary context from which to understand a word. A fragment from some other Semitic artifact can barely compare.

Anthropologists agree that agriculture began in Israel and Jordan some ten thousand years ago. If you find a language without agricultural words, you are allowed to call it pre-Edenic. The oldest human remains ever found with the hyoid bone for speech was unearthed in the Carmel Caves near Haifa, Israel. The hyoid is the bone stuck in the throat of Edenics deniers. All the hard evidence points to Proto-Semitic being earliest.

Any "Out of Africa" or "I Love Lucy" theories are the flimsiest skullduggery by racists who wrongly recognize something simian in Africans, and a later, more evolved human version in themselves. It may be conceded that: 1) some atheists with no ability to conceive of a spiritual realm beyond time and space, and 2) some psychopaths with no conscience or innate morality might actually have no "soul" - and might really have a monkey or two in their family tree.

Edenics is the term coined for this new science. Internally, Edenics is concerned with the many patterned phenomena within Edenic that reveal language to be a hard science, much like chemistry and physics. Externally, Edenics focuses on how, with these phenomena, Edenic links together all human languages. Edenics adds up to an understanding of linguistic globalism or universality. This is not to set up a bland, new one-world order. On the contrary, Nimrod of Babel, the original Saddam, wanted to be the species-wide dictator. The Creator created a work stoppage on Nimrod's Tower of Babel, his Kremlin of centralized mind control, and kick-started multi-national human history with the initial Big Bang of neuro-linguistic diversity that this book has begun to study.

Apparently, the Creator of all natural sciences -- and Edenics is based on an energy form we call sound -- dislikes mindless uniformity and favors a diverse approach to perception. A dialectic approach was put in place by The Hand that first set the pendulum swinging. A history of intolerance for barbarians who jabber incoherently has waived consecutive translation. History longs for the synthesis from our long and painful wars between thesis and antithesis. It is our job -- and we seem to have some six millennia to do it - to finally arrive at some consensus about ethical behavior. Gathering the sparks of shattered vessel fragments (a metaphor from kabbalah) and ingathering the world's words exiled from Eden (a metaphor from Edenics) are ways of repairing the world / TiKOON [O]aLahM.

Or, TINKERING with the world… since TINKER is a metathesis (root-letter switch) of TiKOON (to repair, tinker). Yes, dictionaries either offer "origin unknown" or provide a typically inane etymology that reflects neither the music nor the meaning of TINKER. But for purely emotional, sometimes racist reasons, many prefer that no one tinker with the printed, thus sacred guesses in our current dictionaries.

Secular thinkers who have overlooked Genesis 11 as a tribal myth (although one shared by the Chinese, Mayans and others) have overlooked the dynamics of world history's exile from Eden's unity and clarity.
The striving to return to that Eden of unity and clarity is what Bible-faith calls Redemption. Uncovering Edenics is an important way to slouch towards that Eden to be born. Guarding the path to paradise are the sword-wielding cherubs of the poison ivy towers of academe. Over their objection, this book returns us to Genesis 11:1. Listen to: "VaYehi (1) KoL (2) Ha'AreTS (3) SaPHaH AK[H]aT OO'D(V)aRiM AK[H]aDiM." Can you hear that the (1) WHOLE (2) EARTH had one (3) SPEECH and a unified vocabulary? This book hopes to introduce you to that former and future unity and clarity. From language we move to thought; from a look at our engineered language we might gain glimpses into the Mind of our Engineer.

If anything vaguely spiritual makes you queasy, don't sweat. Some of the best friends of Edenics are secular (scientists and engineers). Get into it for the science, or a love of words. The pastors, ministers and rabbis who will see the G-word in all this will forgive you if you just enjoy the new order found within the former "chaos of language." If you enjoy discovering new relationships with familiar words, and recognize the affinity of Edenics with other natural sciences, you could always settle on some "unknown supra-human intelligence" if you have to consider what engineered all this newly uncovered order in language.

If you are a person of faith, you will take new pride in this new genealogical evidence of your heritage from Adam and Eve. Your mind and
tongue still echo with cadences reported verbatim from celestial realms. You need no theological maneuvering to call yourself a Hebrew. And your Edenic background reflects a purity older even than later Biblical Hebrew. Whatever your Mother Tongue, your every thought and word is evidence that you are not an accident that evolved to be upright, but a creation given the divine tools to be an upright person.

Some religious readers will be disappointed that this book is all about Scripture, yet is not about living the Bible. Such readers must keep their eyes on the prize (a significant validation of a Genesis "myth") and remember that "God is in the details." This book offers evidence that, in a world of confounding cacophony, the Bible-based Lord of Unity is at the tips of our tongues.

After necessary "details" this book will demonstrate Edenic to be the axis on which languages spin --(and keep spinning new dialects). In the final chapter of this book, the world's most commonly used, thus oldest words (as derived by secular linguists) are neatly fit to Edenic. Even more convincing is Joshua Ben's work on number words. One would imagine that coincidental number words will follow trade routes, exposing all this Edenics stuff to be a bunch of borrowings from a time when Earth's population was rather small and huddled together. This data shows far-flung peoples sharing numbers words that come from obscure terms in the Bible. The Easter Islanders didn't trade with the Eskimos and Slavs. We are talking about a planet which all spoke Edenic at the dawn of time.

Yes, the world could gain by recognizing all foreign words as cognates, all foreign people as cousins -- equally descended from our Edenic ancestors. But viva la difference. Edenic is no Esperanto. We can understand where others are coming from by knowing what Edenic word that culture was thinking with. The French and English were capable of a 100-years-war over ideology, because guerre is from GeRaH (quarrel, hear the QR) and WAR is a reversal of ReeY[V] (strife, hear the RIFT).
Edenic war, on the contrary, is based on economics -- (MiLK[H]aMaH
is war and LeK[H]eM is food). Most of the cultures/languages/peoples created at Babel have a sexist term for "woman" - like the English womb man. Later Edenics books will stress just these cultural contrasts, and Edenics will expand in applications as time goes on and opponents like M.I.T. Prof. Noam Chomsky weakens in his efforts to crush it.

What do the Edenics deniers claim? That the dozen researchers have merely found 24,000 coincidental links so far. That there are so few different sounds made by the human mouth, that with letter-shifting and the mere three-root consonants of Semitic this is easy to do. Do the math. Yada, yada, yada… and given enough time, a monkey at a keyboard will write a Shakespearian sonnet.

The big logical flaw of the deniers is that language is sound with sense, music with meaning. If a word means GIRAFFE, very few words could be accepted as a source. 99.99% of all words would be irrelevant, no matter how good the sound correspondence. The dictionaries give an embarrassingly poor etymology for GIRAFFE. What does Edenic offer? Ayin-Resh-Phey, GHoReF, means the scruff of the neck.

The Edenics Dictionary, ready by 2007, should have several volumes and 100,000 English and foreign words linked carefully to their ultimate origin in Edenic. In the meantime, a CD will be available at www.homestead/com/edenics Below is a list of the forms of Daled-Resh-Khaf from the "DIRECTION" entry. Was this a lucky coincidence? Is this the arbitrary manipulation of data that would really work just as well with any language? Are the 24,000 words linked to Edenic etymons (ultimate source) as equally valid as the often-weird Proto-Indo-European reconstructed roots that now fill our dictionaries? Edenics reports, you decide.
